names is a multidisciplinary practice that looks to cycle existing goods into a conversation of idealogies, alternating mediums and aesthetic between past and current works - revealing a story with each functional product.

names is a practice started in 2020 by bryce smith. everything produced is made in house in pennsylvania.
a focus to create a versatile and cohesive product for all to use while taking a sustainable approach by collecting materials through recycled and secondhand articles. in form making there is a correlation and cross communication between the structures of each individual designed form. we can recontextualize these materials, ideas and methods between the parallel forms and mediums. this cross pollination creates new iterations influenced by a relative prior. this plays with the idea of reconstructing and repurposing materials. i often work with ones that are easily accessible, traditional and of simple, handmade methods. through this revealing exposed and raw details to the everyday objects that we often look past. tools, furniture, collectables, clothing and of any object may be related, combined, or contrasted from their respective structures and ideas.
